Privacy Policy

Overview

The service is designed to convert Markdown without accounts or sign-up. Pasted text and files you open on your device stay in your browser until you download a PDF. If you import a public chat or repository link, we use that link on our servers to load the content into the editor. After that, your Markdown stays in the browser while you edit and preview. We send it to generate a PDF only when you choose Download, and we do not keep a copy after processing finishes.

No accounts

We do not offer user accounts, registration, or login. We do not collect names, email addresses, or passwords through the converter.

Document content

• Editing and live preview run in your browser. Your Markdown is not uploaded while you type or preview. Choosing a local Markdown file reads it in the browser only; the file is not uploaded as a separate attachment.
• If you import a public chat share link or a public repository Markdown URL, we use that link on our servers to fetch and load the content into the editor. Pasted text and local files are not uploaded until you choose Download.
• When you download a PDF, your browser sends the Markdown source and the export options you selected (for example paper size, orientation, margins, font, theme, page numbers, and filename) to our servers so we can generate the file.
• Generated PDFs are returned to your browser for download. PDF responses are sent with a no-store cache directive. The app does not provide a document library, cloud save, or other long-term storage for your Markdown or PDFs.
• We do not intentionally retain your document content after the download request finishes. Transient processing may occur in memory on the server during generation.

Preferences stored on your device

PDF layout preferences and the editor split-pane ratio are saved in your browser’s local storage under a preferences key so the interface can remember your last settings. That data stays on your device. Clearing site data in your browser removes it. Your Markdown document itself is not written to local storage by the app.

Technical information

• PDF download requests may be rate-limited using a short-lived record of your IP address. That mechanism exists to protect the service from abuse and is not used to build a user profile.
• Like most websites, our hosting and reverse proxy may produce standard server or access logs (for example IP address, request time, path, and status). Those logs are for operating and securing the service.
• If PDF generation fails, the server may record an error message for troubleshooting. Avoid putting secrets in Markdown you convert if you are concerned about transient processing or operational logs.

Cookies and analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand aggregate page visits and site performance so we can improve the service. Cloudflare states that its Web Analytics beacon does not use cookies or local storage to collect usage metrics and does not fingerprint individuals using IP addresses or user-agent strings. Learn more in Cloudflare's Privacy Policy. The application does not set advertising cookies. Browser local storage is used only for the preferences described above.

Third-party content in your Markdown

If your Markdown includes remote images, our server fetches them through a same-origin image proxy (for preview and PDF generation) using HTTPS only, without following redirects, and only for URLs that pass the published image policy. Other external link URLs are not fetched by the server; your browser may still request them if you click them. Third-party hosts have their own privacy practices.

Security

We apply browser security headers, including a Content Security Policy, to reduce common web risks. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Use HTTPS when visiting convertmdtopdf.com, and do not convert highly sensitive documents unless you accept the residual risk of sending them to a web service for conversion.

Children

The service is a general-purpose document tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy when the product or how we process data changes. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of the service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
